Situated in western St. Charles, Missouri, Wentzville is a city with an estimated population of more than 29,100 residents. Positioned at the intersection of Interstate 64, Interstate 70 and U.S 61, Wentzville is referred to as the “Crossroads of the Nation” and hosts many annual events and festivals, as it’s the site of the county fairgrounds.
Founded way back in 1855, a tract of land was allotted by William M. Allen - a slaveholder and landowner to western St. Charles County - for the establishment of a railway station to serve the people of the local community. The railroad construction was in progress during 1856 and the first train arrived in Wentzville in 1857.
The first church building was built between 1866 and 1868. Raising tobacco was the main source of revenue for the community between 1850 and 1880, and there were many tobacco factories located in the area. In 1872, Wentzville was incorporated and became a fourth-class city. In the following years, the city sustained steady growth.
As of today, Wentzville is a vibrant city that has excellent private and public schools as well as many clubs and churches. The city offers a way of life that not only contains the characteristics of a small town, but also all the amenities of a suburban environment. While the city lies just less than an hour away from St. Louis’s downtown area, the community is still peaceful, and very rich in identity and history.
Wentzville’s major employer is General Motors that has a massive van assembly plant located here, known as Wentzville assembly. The Wentzville R-IV School District serves the students in Wentzville, Foristell, Dardenne Prairie, Lake St. Louis as well as parts of O’Fallon. Furthermore, Immanuel Lutheran School - a Lutheran Exemplary status school - is known for good leadership and sportsmanship. Wentzville Holt High School, Wentzville Timberland High School and Wentzville Liberty High School provide higher education in the area.
Wentzville receives 42 inches of rainfall and 13 inches of snowfall per year. With the average high in the summer season around 87 degrees, it’s crucial to have a good air conditioning system in place to maintain comfort in your home.
